I have given this book to several of my friends to read because I found it so informative. In fact I was considering giving it to my family doctor but then decided he probably knew everything that appears in the book. If only doctors would take the time to explain how these body parts work or suggest this book to us to read so we could better help ourselves by watching what we eat and when we eat it.

You won't find a better USA contemporary GUT Solution book. Buy it! Great pictures, diagrams of body systems and
tons of useful information on caring for and cleansing the systems. Modern day products one can use are mentioned.
Authors have those they recommend and profit from; however, some that I have used work great even if expensive.

Many of our fibromyalgia, opiate detox and alcohol patients at Florida Detox and Wellness Institute have digestive problems which are treatable with the natural herbal and nutritional formulas recommended by this book. The book is very readable, yet includes much recent research.
We have been treating irritible bowel, heartburn, candida,gastritis and leaky gut syndrome, using natural formulas, for years, but found some of Dr. Watson's ReNew Life formulas to be more effective, than generic formulas, from health food stores.
In particular, the Renew Life Intestinew, Candigone and FishSmart Ultra have been especially effective for our patients. One of our patients who had gastrointestinal bleeding for about 20 years repeatedly calls Intestinew "a miracle drug," and buys it for his employees and friends. Cranesbill and other herbals in Intestinew seem especially effective for "leaky gut syndrome," which is a real disorder, more properly called excess intestinal permeability. BTW, the urine intestinal permeability test described in this book works and might succeed in convincing you of the existence of leaky gut syndrome, if you are a skeptic.
Candigone is a very powerful antifungal formula, capable of killing additional fungi, after oil of oregano, garlic, prescription Diflucan and other antifungals have already killed fungi and caused dieoff. Take it easy, at first, with Candigone and start with a tiny first dose, if you use it, since it is VERY POWERFUL.
Fishsmart Ultra is enteric coated and delivers 3 times more Omega 3 absorption, than liquid or nonenteric coated fish oil. Fishsmart also contains the lipase enzyme needed to digest fatty oils. Our patients do not complain about fishy breath, fishy taste or fishy burps, when they use Fishsmart. Recommending supplements patients are unwilling to continue using, does not work for us or them, but Fishsmart works for everyone.
The functional testing described in Gut Solutions really works, although many physicians are unfamiliar with it. It is refreshing to see contributions by Leonard Smith, MD and Steve Holt, MD, in this book. Smith and Holt are both very knowlegeable physicians who integrate nonprescription and prescription treatments, and find actual causes of disease, unlike typical HMO "scope and dope" symptom doctors. I had the pleasure of attending a presentation by Dr. Holt at an anti-aging medicine conference and was very impressed with his knowlege and his graceful, diplomatic moderation of an extremely spirited scientific debate, which happened, at the conference.
Florida Detox and Wellness Institute has seen many dramatic improvements occur, when systemic fungal overgrowths were adequately treated. Chronic sinusitis,Crohns, migraines, fibromyalgia and unusual rashes have frequently improved with effective antifungal treatment. We have also seen some dramatic cases of hypochloridia, insufficient gastric acid.
The description of prescription medication side effects, in this book is very revealing and you might discover you are on the wrong medication, when you read this book.

My spouse and I used Brenda Watson's products and information years ago before this book came out. We both had horrible systemic Candida infections with skin rash. I also had a co-morbid black mold ear infection, and the doctor tried to give me antibiotics for it! In my experience, antibiotics do nothing for mold/Candida except encourage more of it. After years of not knowing what was wrong with us, and me gaining 40 lbs, we both followed Watson's advice. We got rid of the infections and I lost the weight. I was very happy to see this book come out, and I picked it up from the library. I learned new things such as how TMG and L-Methionine make SAMe, and applied that info to my supplement regimen.
The book is recommended for anyone who suspects Candida/mold/yeast infections or is carb-sensitive. Doctors would have happier patients if they quit laughing at Candida problems and carb-sensitive people.
